As accomplished chefs and restaurant owners, as well as world travelers for beer, Brooke and Luther Fedora wanted to share their passion for both food and brews. Loving the concept of the beer dinner, the Fedoras set out to publish a book sharing some of their favorite dinners they’ve created.
The Foodie’s Beer Book encompasses all of these dinners, which have been inspired by their travels, the seasons, and annual holidays. After a brief introduction to beer and styles, along with running through various cooking techniques, the book is divided into four sections—winter, spring, summer and fall. Within each season are five multi-course dinners. The dinners range from themes such as Mardi Gras Buffet and The Buffet Wedding, to dinners just to celebrate the foods and the beers of each season.
The dinners are mostly three to four courses, but a couple do exceed that. Each course is made with a beer, which is also meant for pairing. Chef Fedora walks the reader step-by-step through how to create each dish, and also provides some details on the beers, making it easier to pair those beers with dishes of your own.
Overall, The Foodie’s Beer Book is a very approachable cookbook and is perfect for those who want to recreate the beer dinner experience in their own kitchen. Even if you don’t make the entire meal, the book is a great way to further your understanding of beer and food and how to cook with it, as well as pair it.
