Each February, we throw our favorite event of the year, Band of Brewers. This year will be now different and the event will be held on February 21st at World Cafe Live. Due to the number of performing bands, we have to limit each band to smaller, 15 minute sets. It always leaves us wanting to hear more and makes us wonder what it would be like if we let one or two of the bands put on a full-length concert. Well, being this years Band of Brewers is still almost two months away, we decided to stop wondering and make it happen.
On January 24th, we’re throwing an Opening Act for Band of Brewers. Last years winner, Forest & Main will be joined by a newcomer this year, Tired Hands. Forest & Main’s band, HueMan, brought the weird last year with their Frank Zappa meets Phish set of original songs performed while wearing homemade chicken inspired costumes, and we couldn’t be more excited to see what they can do when given the stage for an hour. With Tired Hands, we don’t know what to expect and they’ve been secretive about what their performance will entail. Though, we do know their band name is House Plant and that a lot of talented musicians work at the brewery.
As with Band of Brewers, each of the bands must consist of solely brewery employees, but unlike the main event next month, the Opening Act isn’t a competition. No judges. No Voting. Just a laid back night of beer and music from two great local breweries.
Tickets to the event are available now and are extremely limited. Johnny Brenda’s is a smaller venue so we have to cap it at 250 people. Join us for some awesome beers from both breweries as well as a bunch of other great local beers. Tickets are only $5 and you can get them here.
