It’s a well-known fact that beyond Dock Street Brewery‘s pursuits of hoppiness, they harbor a lot of respect for the music and hip-hop culture. Their first toast to art came by way of a beer-and-music hybrid, a Wu Tang-infused brew, Dock Street Beer Ain’t Nothing To Funk With. Next, the Dock Street brewing crew (including head brewer Vince Desrosiers) rallied notable rapper and West Philly native, Chill Moody, to collaborate on the new nicethings IPA.
As the brewery relayed, “Chill’s always had something of an open-door policy here at Dock Street, and is known to swing by the brewpub to hang out with the brewers and run some ‘quality control.’ But for the past few months, he’s been stepping in the booth to brainstorm, brew and taste a few batches of our working co-creation, nicethings IPA.”
The first round of nicethings IPA—crafted in three separate batches with nice ingredients like pineapple, mango, lemon balm and fresh-to-death Mosaic hops—is ready for its public tasting. Swing by Tues., Aug. 9, beginning at 4 p.m. to sample round one for yourself. Chill Moody will be on-site, dropping some rhymes while you sample the three variations of his signature IPA (available as a side-by-side flight).
After tasting all three, you’ll be able to weigh in with which was your favorite and vote for the top batch that’ll make its way to round two—which Chill will come back to brew and package. The final nicethings IPA will debut September 30 as a Philadelphia sendoff for Chill’s performance at The Roots Picnic in New York.
