This weekend will see the release of New Liberty Distillery’s new Pennsylvania Dutch Malt Whiskey at their Kensington tasting room. This marks only the second aged whiskey distilled in the city of Philadelphia, following Red Brick Distillery’s Single Malt Whiskey which released in the latter half of 2016.
According to a post on New Liberty’s Facebook page, the Pennsylvania Dutch Malt is distilled with 100% two-row, heirloom, malted barley. Drawing upon Pennsylvania’s Dutch heritage and transcending the archetype of a bourbon or rye, this more traditional whiskey has a chocolate forward with a nice back spice medley of cinnamon and cardamom.
The Pennsylvania Dutch Malt Whiskey can be sampled and purchased at New Liberty’s tasting room at 1431 N Cadwallader St. in Olde Kensington. The tasting room will be open from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, 12-7 p.m. Saturday, and 12-5 p.m. Sunday.
