Wrong Crowd Beer Makes it’s Official Debut

written by John Henry Scott

After years of speculation, the long-awaited Wrong Crowd Beer company is making it’s official public debut this week. The Bryn Mawr based nano-brewery has shipped beer out for the first time to different bars throughout the city and suburbs.

Wrong Crowd’s debut arsenal includes a saison, a double IPA, a coffee pale ale, and a rhubarb version of the Saison. The brewery was started by Dan Shaw and Robert Bagonis, a pair of homebrewers who have been friends since middle school.

“I’ve always like creating things,” said Shaw, who should be a familiar name to those who have visited Pinocchio’s Beer Garden in Media over the past few years. “I’ve been homebrewing for over 10 years. Learning the process and mastering it, I find a lot of satisfaction in that.

Currently, Wrong Crowd brews in 2 barrel batches. They’ve been focused on Belgian styles and IPA’s but Shaw says they’re hoping to break into Sours in the near future. Also, sometime down the road, the duo hopes to open up a few of their own taprooms. Their Bryn Mawr location is not open to the public. The initial bars where you can find their beer include: Side Bar, Craft Beer Store, Pinocchio’s Beer Garden, American Sardine Bar, South Philadelphia Taproom, Memphis Taproom, Strangelove’s, and Station Taproom.

“We’re excited to see where it goes,” said Shaw.

They have not yet launched a website, but you can follow them on Facebook
