Historic Beer Dinner at the Legendary McGillins

150 Minutes for 150 Years:

To help celebrate McGillin’s 150th anniversary we’re hosting a 150 minute long historical beer dinner. The dinner will feature menu items taken off classic McGillins menu’s dating up to 100 years ago and will be paired with Yards Ales of the Revolution. Tom Kehoe of Yards will be on hand to discuss the history of his beers and the two Chris Mullins behind McGillins will be sharing the history of their bar through slide shows and exhibits. Still need plans for Valentines Day?  Here are a few good options that revolve around good beer:

 

Cork in Westmont NJ is featuring a 3-course dinner for $35.  They don't pair the beers, but Cork has a great selection of beers on tap and I'm sure you could easily find something to complement each dish. They are also serving an optional wine pairing for $15.  Here is the Menu:

First course

Granny Smith and Celery Salad

Radicchio, Toasted Almonds, Gorgonzola, Tangy Ephemere Dressing

Crab, Parma and Melon Salad

Fresh Mozzarella, Arugula, Honey White Balsamic Vinaigrette

Hawthorne's Cafe:

Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Hawthornes with a delicious 3 course meal and beer  pairing. Seating is at 6:00 pm. Reservations Only $60.00 per person. Each course will be paired with a beer chosen by Chris & Heather, with a special aged chocolate stout for the nightcap. Sure to make your valentine swoon!

 

Tap and Table in Emmaus:

 

Tap and Table might be a little bit outside of our radius, but it's only about an hour, and it's completely worth the trip.  I was able to attend a beer dinner there a week ago (I will write about it shortly) and was extremely impressed.  The atmosphere in the place is incredible and the beer selection is just as nice.  They have 3 casks on at all times and very large bottle selection.  This is what they are offering:

Ommegang Beer Dinner

I just got the menu for the February 16th Ommegang beer dinner at Cork in Westmont NJ (only like 10 minutes over the bridge).  This is the second in our series of monthly beer dinners at Cork.  The first featured beers from Unibroue and was an incredible dinner.  Cork goes all out and truly makes it a memorable event.  Tickets for the dinner are available by calling Cork at 856-833-9800.  Tickets will go quick so do not hesitate.  Here is the menu:

Local Beer Chefs Wanted!

Philly Beer Scene and Hawthornes Cafe are teaming up to bring you a

Beer Brunch Competition

We are looking for local beer lovers to submit their favorite beer-infused brunch item.  We are going to have 4 categories to submit your recipe into.  The top submission from each category will be part of a 4 course Beer Geek Brunch at Hawthornes on March 14th. Each guest at the brunch will then vote on each dish and the top recipe will receive a spot on the brunch menu at Hawthornes along with being featured in the April-May issue of Philly Beer Scene in the “Cooking With Beer” section.  Here are the categories:

3.Pancake/Waffle type dish
